This article will be relevant to the Gmail users only. It is relatively easy to set filter in Gmail. Plus, there is no such thing as folder in Gmail, it uses Label instead.
.
Step 1: Open your Gmail
.
Step 2: Open any emails that is sent from the mailing list, in this case, Yahoogroups. But do not open the email composed by you.
Click ‘show details‘ as in the picture below
.
.
Step 3: After clicking it, you will see a very detailed technical info about the email. Click on ‘Filter messages from this mailing list’ that appear next to your Yahoogroups address
.
.
Step 4: You will be taken to a page where you need to enter the required info. Unlike Yahoo, Gmail will automatically fill this up, depending on what instruction you gave to it earlier. Click Next Step
.
.
Step 5: Next, please tick the sections circled in red below. Skip the inbox, Apply the label, Also apply to __ coversations below and Create filter. To apply the label, either choose a pre prepared label or create a new one.
.
.
Step 6: Your filter is now ready. You can view it among other filters (only if you have done other filter as well) together with its settings.
.
.
.
Step 7: Everytime you want to read the filtered emails, just click on the Label on the left column of your Gmail
.
.
I hope that something that I wrote here might be of some use for you.
